Thijs van Drongelen

Thijs van Drongelen

Operational Buyer at BEGE

Thijs van Drongelen was immediately drawn to the combination of technology, innovation, and the informal work atmosphere at BEGE. During the first interview, he felt an instant connection. The tour confirmed this: the positive energy and the sense of commitment everyone showed made it clear that he would fit in here.

Accessible from day one

What stood out most to Thijs during his first few weeks was how approachable and helpful everyone is. Colleagues really take the time to walk you through the processes and answer questions. There’s no barrier to asking questions—just a team that’s happy to bring you on board.

Smooth deliveries, satisfied customers

As an operational buyer, Thijs ensures that products and materials arrive on time and that everything in the supply chain runs smoothly. Colleagues and customers can count on good quality and reliable deliveries. No two days are exactly the same, and he gets plenty of opportunities to do and learn new things.

Responsibility that motivates

What pleasantly surprised Thijs was how much responsibility and trust he was given early on. That’s motivating and gives room to develop quickly. He also felt like part of the team sooner than expected. That combination of trust, freedom, and camaraderie makes him look forward to coming to work.

Building knowledge, building bridges

Thijs wants to further deepen his role as an operational buyer and continue to build his knowledge and experience. But he also looks forward to collaborating with various departments and suppliers. By establishing and maintaining those connections, he wants to make a real contribution to a smooth and efficient procurement process within BEGE.

“Working with colleagues is very enjoyable. There’s an open atmosphere where everyone is willing to help one another.”

Ruben Opstal

Ruben Opstal

Mechanical Engineer at BEGE

Ruben Opstal combines a passion for technology and engineering with an innate curiosity. In addition to his work as a Mechanical Engineer, he enjoys experimenting with his 3D printer at home and swims regularly. He joined the engineering team at BEGE this year, and it quickly felt like the right choice.

A familiar name, a new step

BEGE was no stranger to Ruben. Through his previous employer, he had already come into contact with BEGE and our products. So when he started looking for a new challenge in engineering, the choice was an easy one.

He was looking for a place to further expand his knowledge of drive systems, in a pleasant work environment. BEGE offered both.

“I was surprised at how quickly it all felt familiar. I was welcomed with open arms and felt heard within my department and the company. The informal atmosphere makes collaborating with other departments very accessible.”

From 2D to 3D to production part

As a Mechanical Engineer, Ruben works with his team on the technical development of drive systems and associated components: from 2D drawings to 3D models to production-ready parts.

In addition, the team supports other departments with technical questions, parts lists, and assembly issues. “I realize I have a lot to learn about the products, naming conventions, and work methods. And that ensures I go home every day with a sense of satisfaction.”

Quickly at home in a new team

What pleasantly surprised Ruben was how quickly he got back into his old work rhythm. After six months of searching for the right step, he noticed early on that he was feeling comfortable again.

The informal atmosphere at BEGE makes collaboration accessible, and he feels heard within his department. “I have a good laugh with my team, which makes the time fly by.”

Room to grow

In his previous environment, Ruben worked in a team of people over 50 and often felt like a junior. At BEGE, it’s different. He is taken seriously, his input matters, and there is plenty of room to develop further, both in terms of knowledge and in his role.

He’s curious to see where this opportunity will lead and looks forward with genuine anticipation to what’s yet to come within the company.

“I go home every day with a sense of satisfaction.”

Dennis van Mourick

Dennis van Mourick

Production Planner & Scheduler at BEGE

Dennis van Mourick made a deliberate choice for BEGE. Among the many vacancies he received, the position of work planner immediately stood out. After a smooth job interview, followed by a tour of the company, he had a good feeling about the job right away.

A running start

What immediately struck Dennis about BEGE was the open and approachable work environment. There’s no strict hierarchy; instead, colleagues simply talk to and help one another.

That sense of involvement was evident right from the first week. During the structured onboarding process, Dennis shadowed various departments to get to know the company and meet his colleagues. “I’m being guided very well, and that gives me confidence.”

Switching between departments

As a work planner and scheduler, everything for Dennis revolves around one central question: can this order be delivered on time? That means checking whether the planned delivery date is feasible, whether the necessary inventory is available, and ensuring good coordination between departments.

“You have to be able to switch gears and take action to get the schedule right. When you succeed, it’s truly satisfying.”

New territory, good feeling

The role is completely new to Dennis, but it was precisely the variety and the challenging nature of the work that attracted him. And that has proven to be true in practice. He takes on new tasks with enthusiasm and is gaining a better understanding of how the processes work.

When he has a moment to spare, he asks colleagues where he can help. That attitude and openness is appreciated and fits perfectly with the way BEGE operates.

Career growth at BEGE

Dennis feels a strong sense of confidence in his own growth at BEGE. He is just starting his career as a work planner, but is steadily establishing his place within the team. Further developing his skills, functioning more and more independently in his role, and ultimately advancing within the company: that is what he is working toward.

With the guidance he has received so far, he is confident that he will succeed.

“Everything is multifaceted and challenging, and that’s evident in practice as well.”

His affinity for technology runs deep, and his training and natural aptitude align seamlessly with the dynamic environment at BEGE.

Engaged in technical challenges

Kevin handles work preparation, planning, and quality control, keeping him constantly connected to the production process.

Collaborating on innovations

In addition to his daily duties as workshop manager, Kevin eagerly looks forward to the upcoming product developments and modifications BEGE is working on.

The annual end-of-year parties, barbecues, and department gatherings strengthen the bond and personal connection among colleagues.

Kevin recalls how Gerard Paulides (then director) hung a large BEGE logo in the cafeteria, surrounded by core values such as “trust,” “respect,” and “communication.” These gestures contribute to a positive work environment where everyone feels valued and is happy to do their part.

Kevin is also pleased with the improvements in employee benefits, such as the enhanced pension plan. This investment in staff well-being is greatly appreciated by the entire team.

Kevin’s commitment to both his work and the company culture makes him a valued contributor to BEGE’s success.

At BEGE, Eric immediately felt at home, a feeling he missed in his previous job. “Is there really no one you ever have any trouble with?” we ask him. “No, absolutely no one. They’re all great colleagues. There’s a warm atmosphere where fun and professionalism go hand in hand.”

Working foreman for precision

Although Eric had no technical background, BEGE saw potential in him because of his managerial experience at a large printing company. Now he works as a working foreman in logistics.

Together with his six colleagues, he ensures the precise inspection of incoming goods, such as gears, castings, and gearboxes. “Everything has to be perfect, accurate to the thousandth of a millimeter. We use advanced measuring equipment to ensure that everything meets our strict quality standards.”
