Ruben Opstal
Mechanical Engineer at BEGE
Ruben Opstal combines a passion for technology and engineering with an innate curiosity. In addition to his work as a Mechanical Engineer, he enjoys experimenting with his 3D printer at home and swims regularly. He joined the engineering team at BEGE this year, and it quickly felt like the right choice.
A familiar name, a new step
BEGE was no stranger to Ruben. Through his previous employer, he had already come into contact with BEGE and our products. So when he started looking for a new challenge in engineering, the choice was an easy one.
He was looking for a place to further expand his knowledge of drive systems, in a pleasant work environment. BEGE offered both.
“I was surprised at how quickly it all felt familiar. I was welcomed with open arms and felt heard within my department and the company. The informal atmosphere makes collaborating with other departments very accessible.”
From 2D to 3D to production part
As a Mechanical Engineer, Ruben works with his team on the technical development of drive systems and associated components: from 2D drawings to 3D models to production-ready parts.
In addition, the team supports other departments with technical questions, parts lists, and assembly issues. “I realize I have a lot to learn about the products, naming conventions, and work methods. And that ensures I go home every day with a sense of satisfaction.”

Quickly at home in a new team
What pleasantly surprised Ruben was how quickly he got back into his old work rhythm. After six months of searching for the right step, he noticed early on that he was feeling comfortable again.
The informal atmosphere at BEGE makes collaboration accessible, and he feels heard within his department. “I have a good laugh with my team, which makes the time fly by.”
Room to grow
In his previous environment, Ruben worked in a team of people over 50 and often felt like a junior. At BEGE, it’s different. He is taken seriously, his input matters, and there is plenty of room to develop further, both in terms of knowledge and in his role.
He’s curious to see where this opportunity will lead and looks forward with genuine anticipation to what’s yet to come within the company.
